Library Card Policies

  • Library cards are provided to the residents of Calhoun County at no charge.  Replacement library cards cost $2.  For children between the ages of 8 and 17, a parent or guardian's signature is required.  Children under 8 years of age will not be issued cards.  Proof of residence and a reliable personal reference are required for all library card applicants.  Out-of-county residents may obtain a library card for $15 per year, and an annual renewal is required.

Loan Periods

  • Books and audio tapes are checked out for two weeks.  Materials not returned on time will incur a fine, which must be paid before additional materials may be checked out.  Fines for books and audio tapes are $0.10 per day per overdue item. (with a $5.00 maximum per item)
  • Video tapes may be checked out for two days - to adult patrons only.  Fines for video tapes are $1.00 per day per overdue item (no maximum set)
  • Materials may be renewed by bringing them by the library or by calling the library during regular business hours.  The patron must provide their name, library card number, title, and author (if applicable) of the materials to be renewed.  Materials may only be renewed one time per patron and only to the patron who originally checked out the materials.

Book Deposit Boxes

  • Two book deposit boxes are located in front of the main library for after hours book returns.  Each branch library also has a book deposit bin for such returns.
